Sarah T. M. Bell

I fear I shall never be called a Son of God, despite the fact I am passionately in love with Jesus.

PS What is wrong with the world 'Child'?

Carl E. Olson

Sarah: All those who are baptized into Christ and who are in a state of grace are sons and daughters of God. A couple of verses to consider:

• "for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith" (Gal. 3:26)
• "And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba! Father!'" (Gal. 4:6)
• "For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness." (1 Thess. 5:5)

The use of "sons" here is not about being male-only, of course:

• "See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. " (1 Jn. 3:1)
