The Cross and the Switchblade

Not long ago, while packing up a lot of things from my father's estate I ran across a copy of that book, and then I remembered reading it as a youth. What I remember most about the story was his bravery in taking the gospel to some of the nastiest and most dangerous people. Didn't realize he was a dispensationalist, but I am not surprised.

To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word...

His allusion to Psalm 23 reminds of that period of time in my own upbringing and being required to memorize it. It was my mother's favorite and I can say after all these years it is still in my memory and is now my own favorite Psalm.

Christopher

Amen. The Cross and the Switchblade really moved me as a young (Protestant) teenager. It has been decades since I read it, but I still recall Wilkerson's story about how he gave the shoes on his feet to a homeless kid and walked barefoot down the streets of New York.
