Why the invented term "Puritania" rather than, say, Northern Irish Protestant fundamentalism?

As Pearce discusses, the term "Puritania" comes from Lewis, from The Pilgrim's Regress. It has the bonus of being both more poetic and pithy than "Northern Irish Protestant fundamentalism."
