A lovely custom for the Feast of St Nicholas which I read about on Joanna Bogle's blog was to give a bag of chocolate coins to the children in the family in memory of St Nicholas giving a bag of coins to a poor man's daughter so that she could buy the necessaries for her wedding. Whether this really happened or is just a pious tradition it is a great way to introduce children to the saints.
