... is courtesy of Contessa Brewer, MSNBC daytime anchor. In the course of interviewing New York Times reporter John Harwood about the future and focus of the Republican Party, Brewer stated:
Just a poor choice of words? Badly articulated thought? Hmmm. I doubt it.
I would have put it this way: "Until they change policies – I mean, that's what it took for conservatives in Great Britain to win – is a real change in focus away from the MSM and kissing up to the powers that be into things that affect people's daily lives."
Anyhow, it's more than a little depressing how commonplace is Brewer's apparent assumption: that politics have little or nothing to do with morals and values. But I suspect that if you asked her why she (likely) supports universal health care or higher taxes for the wealthy or targeting certain Christians as potential "extremists," the answer(s) would be couched in moral language: It's the right thing to do. It's good for people. It's about helping people. It's about fairness. And so forth.
Speaking of health care and the mainstream media, isn't it nice to see ABC working so hard to maintain its journalistic integrity and objective distance on the topic?
Psst, hey Carl! I think you have to be "sophisticated" to not see the contradiction. You know, consistency being the hobgoblin of small minds and all that.
Logic is all boring and stuff. It's much less effort to call troglodytes like us names than examine one's own assumptions.

Of course what she is referring to is Margaret Thatcher throwing British pro-life conservatives to the wolves.
