In the interview, Read recommends his novel On the Third Day.
I read some reviews of it and they sound a bit ambiguous in some respects.
Has anyone read it and can offer a review?

I read it several years ago and liked it quite a bit. It has a bit more of a satirical bent than Death of a Pope, and also deals with ecclesiastical matters / conflicts. I think it's currently out of print...
