Interesting questions from a reader:
Can you tell me what Fr. Schall's middle name is, and what Joseph
Pieper's middle name was? I am guessing that Fr. Schall's middle name
is "Vincent", as I know it starts with a "V". I am unable to find
mention of Pieper's middle name anywhere. I was hoping that with your
Ignatius Press connections (and your breadth of reading), that you might
know.
He asks, he adds, because he is mulling over possible names for children. I don't know the answer to either question, but do have an inquiry into Fr. Schall. I'm not certain that Josef Pieper had a middle name; I've never seen one or even a middle initial, although that means little enough, I suppose.
UPDATE: Just heard back from Fr. Schall; his middle is "Vincent." Good guess!
Did you check what Pieper says in his autobiography, which happens to have been published by Ignatius. It's wouldn't be unusual for a German of that era not to have a middle name, although they might be known by compound names (Franz Josef, Charlotte-Sophie-Louise, etc.)

We always choose a second middle name based on whatever feast day the baby is born on.
