China, Catholicism, and Buddhism | Dr. Anthony Clark and Carl E. Olson | Ignatius Insight Podcast | Dec. 29, 2008
The editor of Ignatius Insight talks to Dr. Anthony E. Clark, assistant professor of Asian history at
the University of Alabama and a contributing editor to This Rock magazine (his most recent article for This Rock was this
May-June 2008 piece on Thomas Merton).
Dr. Clark, who has written a series of pieces for Ignatius Insight
about the Church in China (see links below), recently returned from
four months of teaching in Beijing (August-December 2008) and traveling
in other parts of China. He talks about the "two churches" in China,
his life-long interest in China, and the popularity of Buddhism in the
West compared to how it is practiced in Asia.
On February 11, 2009, Dr. Clark will be a guest on "EWTN Live", and will talk wth Fr. Mitch Pacwa, S.J., about "The Zen of Catholicism: What
Attracts Westerners to Buddhism."
Listen to the 28-minute interview...
This would be a great topic for Marcus Grodi's "The Journey Home" program on EWTN!
