The physician assisted suicide advocate says that "many doctors note that God is, in fact, kept waiting past the chosen hour (rather like we are kept waiting at the doctor's office) due to medical interventions that artificially extend life (but do not end suffering)." This is revealing as to the reasoning implicit in legalized physician assisted suicide: it is saying, in effect, "medical science shows that man can manipulate nature to his own ends and, therefore, man is god who controls not only nature but also who shall die and who shall live."
