"Obama consistently ran behind Hillary Clinton among Catholic Democrats." I don't know what relevant conclusions can be drawn based on sampling Catholics who supported EITHER of these 100% baby-slayers.

Anyway, it will be no great feat to win this election, but it will a total embarassment to lose it. Imagine being the Republican who could not beat an Obama, or the Democrat who could not beat a McCain. Shudder.

"even with the backing of the state's premier pro-life Democrat, Senator Bob Casey Jr."

I think this shows a certain imbalance in the piece that does point to neo-con leanings more than Catholic ones.

How so? Please explain. Not clear what you mean.

To many pro-lifers, Casey is a disappointment and a regrettable vote. Wish Santorum was still in the Senate.

Maybe it is because you are coming from the Catholic perspective, but those views seem primarily Christian, and in no way just Catholic

Bob Casey Jr. Pro-Life! If that's the case how come he's promoting Obama big time? You must be confusing him with his father who lost his political career standing up for life. Regretably, his son is not in the same mold. We need Rick Santorum back in the senate!

I am not sure we know what McCain appointed judges would do. Reagan appointed Sandra Day O'Connor. McCain cares little about the abortion issue. He won't go to war to get that 5th prolife vote. He will face determined opposition. He is far more likely to simply throw in the towel and gamble the social conservatives buy his excuses.

It sounds like that abortion is the only issue, To life there is more to it very special if we look at thelife of Jesus . It was he who proclaimed first to preach the Gospel to the poorWhen that is done everything else will fall into place including abortion. Americans do forget one thing that the social teaching of the church is focused upon the poor and the less fortunate and the lower income groups. As soon as we understand this that this the core of the Gospel. You have 40 to 50 million people without any means of health care .It is peace on earth that speaks very early about health care descent pensions for seniors. You have a million street kids what about all of this. They are to be the future of your nation and you trhow them on the street without any care. my question is where is your Christian concience.

The above statement is commonly heard, but really seems ill-informed. Yes, Senator Casey is supporting Obama, despite their disagreements on abortion restrictions. But both Casey, Sr. and Rick Santorum have supported pro-choice candidates. I don't understand where this invented standard comes from, but if it to be applied to one person, it should be applied to all.

I think some people who never had a kind word to say (let alone casting a ballot for) Governor Casey have adopted him since his death. As fro giving Santorum a pass on supporting pro-choice candidates (Deal Hudson is one who does this) while damning Casey for doing the same, makes no sense.

If the only choice is between McCain and Obama, there is no way that a vote for Obama can be justified. Obabma's positions on other social issues cannot outweigh his pro-abortion position such as voting for the continuation of partial birth abortion.

McCain is weak, he is goofy and unpredictable , but other than ESCR, he is pro-life. Life is the primary issue.

Read Archbishop Burke on the issue. The UCCB, the group that brought us "Always Our Children" and the Peace Pastoral as well as weak leadership on HV and immigration policy is just not credible anymore.
