I agree. Too often those who criticise religion for its darker sides simply ignore the fact that Catholics/Christians have given their lives over to a power greater than themselves. Although the trendy left espouse 'compassionite' ideals they are nothing more than that: Theories and ideals and are quickly given up whenever it suits them. The baby boomer generation were especially respnsible for this, selfish and hypocritical to the core, the elite of that generation gave up their hippiedom to embrace consumerism and this vague and vaucous notion of 'humanism which means whatever you want it to mean and reduces faith to claptrap. The only people who are demonised are those who believe in stable unchanging truth

Yes, the press has been horrible and much of the lead in press of last week was unreadable.

Today I was happy to see a more gracious example, as the Muslim community extended prayers and goodwill, and are also actually hosting some of the Catholic pilgrims.
