I leave early tomorrow morning for Alabama, home of something called the Crimson Tide and of EWTN. I'll get to visit a bit with our good friends Tony and Amanda Clark, who live in Tuscaloosa, and then on Monday evening (March 3rd) I'll guest on EWTN's "The Journey Home" with Marcus Grodi. The show is live and airs at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 Pacific. I have been on the show before, back in June 2002 (listen to it as an .ra file). I'm not sure yet what the exact focus will be this time, but certainly some aspect of my Fundamentalist upbringing, and my journey through Evangelicalism to the Catholic Church. I hope to blog a bit while I'm on the road, but things might be a bit quiet here for a couple of days.
Hey, Carl! Do us a favor when you see Marcus Grodi. Tell him to get Peter Kreeft on the show. He's had an all-star cast with Tom Howard, Joseph Pearce, Scott Hahn, and even several "cradle" Catholics. But never Kreeft. It seems like an obvious oversight.

Thomas: I'd be surprised if Marcus hasn't invited Dr. Kreeft many times over. From what I hear, Dr. Kreeft is not a big fan of live interviews, so that may be why he's not been on "The Journey Home". I'll try to remember to ask.

Carl:
Very cool. May God be with you.

I look forward to seeing you. I enjoyed reading, just now, your article "Turn About." It was an especially nice read after I've had one of my "chair throwing" days about attacks on the Catholic Church! Like you I enjoy writing to refute the misbeliefs, but I also cannot help some brush back too lol.

Thanks, Carl. I appreciate it. That sounds like a probable explanation, since I'm sure Grodi hasn't simply overlooked the good professor.
I joke that I didn't graduate in philosophy from BC; I graduated in Kreeft.
I just want our modern Chesterton to get as much exposure as possible.
Good luck on the show. I'll TiVo you.

Just watched the show. You were terrific! Thanks for a great interview. I hear you on the Eucharist as the draw to the Church. I'll be received into the at Easter. It'll be good to be home.

I wish I would have taped last night's Journey Home. Sometimes, when the questions came in, I thought, oh boy, how is he going to answer that? But you were so knowledgeable and intelligent the answers were fantastic. I also wish that every person in the country could have seen that! What a lot of misconceptions could be cleared up (for open minds). And you were funny. I appreciated your humor. My mind this morning is still going over some of the points you made.

Carl,
I am interested in your reponse regarding the great apostasy.
In particular, we cradle Catholics were taught also about a great apostasy
(unlike the cases you mentioned in the show). In 2 Thes. 2 Paul says
Let no one deceive you in any way. For unless the apostasy
comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one doomed to perdition,
who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship,
so as to seat himself in the temple of God, claiming that he is a god -
do you not recall that while I was still with you I told you these things?
If you have the opportunity sometime, perhaps you could explain the Catholic doctrine
on the great apostasy (apparently yet to come).

Saw you on the show with Marcus and I must say you blew me away with your theological insight. I am sending for the DVD from the show to share with my Bible study group. Thank you and God bless you

I'm watching the show now (via the archived RealVideo on ewtn.com), and it looks like you did a great job. I would never be able to go on live TV like that without being horribly nervous and stumbling over my words, but you seemed completely relaxed and you gave great answers. I hope you had (or are having) a nice trip to Alabama.

Hi Karl! I'm a convert (2002) from a Brethren (Bible Chapel) background too! Great seeing you on Journey Home!

Thanks, everyone, for the very kind comments. I had a wonderful time. Being on television with Marcus is just like sitting at home and shooting the breeze. And being at EWTN is always very enjoyable; the folks there are incredibly warm and helpful. My only complaint is that I picked up a mild cold on the way home. But, then, my flights were all on time (and even early), so that's small potatoes.
