Christopher Blosser of The Pope Benedict XVI Fan Club/The Cardinal Ratzinger Fan Club has launched a new blog, "Is Barack Obama The Messiah?", which tracks the religious fervor of Obama-ites. For example, this from a young, uh, fan of the Senator from Illinois:
SEATTLE–The Key Arena doors opened just before 11 a.m. and Cynthia Keze was one of the thousands hoping to see Barack Obama.
When she did not get in, she was determined to wait out in the rain just in case she got a glimpse of the man she says has brought her new hope for the future of the United States.
"The rest of us, we were in this huge crowd outside in the rain and he came out in the rain and talked to us," said Keze, her voice still raw from cheering. "I was 10 feet away from him, 10 feet away," she repeated another two times in awe.
"The only time I felt like that was when I saw Pope John Paul II."
Hmmm...that's an interesting comparison: the Pope who helped bring down Communism and who denounced the culture of death and the junior senator from Illinois who has done his darndest to uphold, preserve, spread, protect, celebrate, and otherwise support the culture of death. Creepy. Makes me think of a certain Living Colour tune:
"Look in my eyes, what do you see?
the Cult of Personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I've been everything you wanna be ohhh…
I'm the Cult of Personality"
Jeff Miller, meanwhile, talks about Obama's "Hope-A-Dope" tactics.
Call me a heretic but I've yet to hear this Messiah say anything substantial. If and when he does, I'm sure it will be well delivered, because he does have an attractive style of speaking. Perhaps Pied Piper would be a better description than Messiah.

LOL - I was reminded of the Living Colour song as well. How very fitting! =)

I am reminded of Albert Brooks' speech in Broadcast News: "What do you think the Devil is going to look like if he's around? Nobody is going to be taken in if he has a long, red, pointy tail. No. I'm semi-serious here. He will look attractive and he will be nice and helpful and he will get a job where he influences a great God-fearing nation and he will never do an evil thing...."
Okay, I am reminded of it up until that last line. But no one seems to notice that he voted for infanticide.

I think he's closer to the anti-Christ than to Messiah - unless he is Isa, the Islamic messiah. That may be playing too much into dispensationalism, but something isn't right about the junior senator from Illinois.
Maybe I just remember another senator from that state and the evil he unleashed on this country...

I have grown weary of "Culture of Death" being restricted to Liberalism. What about Birth of a Nation? What about that Mickey Mouse knock-off who encourages Palestinian children to attack Jews? What about people who deny the Nazi Holocaust? What about conservative radio jocks who ridicule blacks?

What about liberals who change the topic when they get uncomfortable? What about the way they aren't willing to sign their names, but must post anonymously?

Goodness, are all of those folks close to becoming a major party candidate in the presidential election? Are they even close to being mainstream? Does any real conservative accept such things? Nope, didn't think so...

The audacity of false hope thrives on people's readiness to agree with what sounds and feels good, even if they really aren't good. The woman who compared her experience in Obama's rally with her experience in seeing Pope John Paul II was energized at both times by charisma. Unfortunately, she failed to recognize what was different.

I just keep thinking about my parents explaining to me, when I would ask how he did it, that Hitler came into power because he was an incredible public speaker.

I came off poorly again. I'm very sorry. I tried to point out deficiencies in conservative rhetoric. I'm not a communist. I do not support abortion. I am a Catholic.
Birth of a Nation was very popular. Anti-semitic propaganda is very mainstream in the Middle East. David Irving boasts of being a real academic. I invite you to go to Media Matters' website and read about Michael Savage and Pat Buchanan. I invite you to spend time reading such 'blogs as Orcinus. Ask yourselves whether the Right truly promotes a Culture of Life. Ask yourselves whether Obama is actually a Nazi or just a misguided civil-rights activist.
After you respond to this message, I will make another effort to not post here again.

he's frightening. people are closing their brains down because they want "hope." Maxine Waters said "people need help, not hope."

Whoa!!, just checked out the "Messiah" web blog. New Wine? New Testament? I wonder how this crowd would have reacted to Hitler had they been living in Germany in 1933. Something tells me its time to say more rosaries and put on a few pounds because if this guy gets hold of power we are all in store for some extraordinarily "interesting" times.

Barack Obama, Messiah?
Barack Obama, Anti-Christ?

You haven't responded to my last post, so I'll leave on my own after I post this link.

Anonymous: Likening Obama or Bush or other politicians to Hitler, as some do, is completely out of line, and I'm happy to say so.

You seem to still be missing the point: this particular post is about how some people are acting as though Obama—who could very well be the next President of the U.S.—is a sort of messiah figure. When I post on that particular topic do I also need to mention every other problem in the world? I think not.

"wound up springs" that are looking for someone to crucify? First it was Jesus and now it's Barak Obama, and on and on it goes....
Reminds me of the family rivalry in my past when young ego's, that didn't know very much, were trying to conquer each other with destructive comments.
When I walked in on them, after they had had a few glasses of wine and were tearing me apart, I said , "Finally I have found a purpose in life, if it wasn't for me, you people would have no life".
