"... to figure out that the film's bad guys who keep complaining about heretics -- led by Nicole Kidman, looking even more like a CGI character than those bears -- are clearly meant to be reps of the Catholic Church, even before you get a glimpse of their Vatican-like headquarters."
That is Lou Lumenick of The New York Post writing about "The Golden Compass." This after he had written: "Bill Donohue of the Catholic League has been publicizing the movie by claiming it's an anti-religious tract, as much as it pains me to say so, this self-appointed no-nothing may actually have something of a point."
Congratulations, Lou: you are now a nitwit.
In related news, The Times thinks the movie stinks.
And apparently you don't need to be a New York Post journalist to know that the term is "know-nothing" and that the main quality of being one was virulent anti-Catholic sentiment.

Pau; Yes, that was a (somewhat) funny error. And strange.

"You don't need to be a Jesuit scholar..."
I agree. But it sure helps to know some.

Considering some of the scholars "in the Jesuit tradition" I've met...
Nice to see it panned by the Times of London.
Hopefully the movie turns out to be a dog with the critics and heads to DVD bargain bin oblivion.
