...for his questionable math skills when it comes to arriving at the actual number of Protestant denominations in the world.

steve,
don't cast pearls before swine.

padraighh,
Don't call someone a swine just because casting pearls before him has no noticeable effect.
(Not a James White fan, here, but hope for reaching him, somehow, remains)

Steve Ray holds his end up rather well, in my opinion, and with a sense of humor.

Come on Steve, there's only 31,000 denominations you stupid papist! Of course, I'm not Protestant as I belong to the Free Will Open Bible Church of God Baptist Assembly, we've been around since the apostles!

nick,
I am quoting scripture - take it up with God.
Not only does it have no noticable effect it appears to me that it draws Dr. White into temptation and he becomes irrational and sometimes a little hateful.

Oh, I know what you're doing, and it's not what you think you're doing, "scripture quoting" or not.
"James White is swine" is not a good first principle for dealing with him, but that's the one you're proposing. You're taking a conclusion ("pearls not working") and trying to draw premises out of it ("he must be swine, then"). It's both uncharitable to White and unfriendly to Reason. Answering a man according to his folly, by the same token, doesn't necessarily mean he's a fool, and me rendering something of yours unto you makes you neither Caesar nor God.
You can't run these things backwards; they weren't designed that way.

Nick
perhaps the metaphore cuts too close to you for your liking, but in fact the quote is not meant just for Dr. White who continues to call Steve a liar even though Steve has given a source for his numbers.
The point of the quote is obvious or ought to be. If you continue to argue about little things that don't matter just because someone wants to draw you into an meaningless argument, then you
are being side tracked. Better to ignore Mr. White. Better for Steve and probably better for Dr. White. In any case you can continue to write about me with indignation but I wont respond on this topic again.
