When told that Ignatius Press was publishing an English edition of the famous book by De Lubac, a theologian friend declared that he has the original French edition. To which I replied, "Yes, but it's better in English."

Well, that's a bit of puffery. I can honestly say that it's better in English for those who don't read French.

Amen to that. For me, the same goes for a lot of great books translated from Latin, German, etc. It's either spend a lifetime learning those languages, or read good translations. The latter is simply more practical, at least for myself.
