That's the topic to be addressed by Mark Brumley, CEO for Ignatius Press and associate publisher of IgnatiusInsight.com, on Catholic Answers Live tomorrow (Monday, March 19) from 4:00-5:00 pm (PST). The topic is obviously related to Mark's excellent book, How NOT To Share Your Faith: The Seven Deadly Sins Of Apologetics And Evangelization (Catholic Answers), which is must reading for anyone interested in evangelization and/or apologetics. More info about the show can be accessed here.
The show went reasonably well--that is, Jimmy was able to make me a mildly interesting guest.
My five new priorities?
Warning: The following priorities are going to require work. That includes study of people and their problems. It includes study of Catholicism. And it requires study of how to address the problems from the perspective of the Catholic faith in ways that people can understand and that are not unnecessarily off-putting. Sorry, but that’s the way it is.
1. Revisionist histories of Christianity, especially Jesus and the early Church
2. Science, especially in addressing misapplication of scientific ideas and theories to Christianity
3. Public ethics, especially in response (a) moral relativism and (b) key political issues
4. Secularism, especially in challenging the idea that Christianity is irrelevant to successful modern living or only helpful to certain people
5. Encounters with non-Christian religions, especially Islam and quasi-Christian religious movements
I hope to write about these priorities in the near future.
