Reading this homily and the words of Pope Benedict actually makes it possible for me to envision a future in which there is full communion between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

My wife asked me last night whether I thought that full communion between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches was a realistic possibility. I told her that for the first time in my life I actually believed it will happen, perhaps not in the very near future, but it will happen. There was something very special in this meeting of Benedict and Bartholomew and the subsequent declaration they issued that gives me great hope.
