If you've never visited Michael O'Brien's excellent web site, StudiOBrien.com, I highly recommend checking it out. It is a beautifully designed site, filled with Michael's essays and iconography. Of particular interest to those who have read Father Elijah is this page, "Questions about Michael O'Brien's Father Elijah", with nearly fifty questions about the novel answered by the author. Michael's next novel, Sophia House, is a prequel to Father Elijah and will be out within the next few months.
In Father Elijah - Mohammad is mentioned as a false prophet - is this an opinion held by the author as well? And what is the general opinion by Catholic scholars on Mohammad and his teachings? Not the politically correct answer, please! I myself belive that Mohammad was deceived in the desert, and that what appeared to him as an angel of God was really sent by the Evil One.
