And "almost all stupid people are conservatives".
In which case, I wonder if Susie Prusch, who reportedly wrote that and more, is actually a conservative, since you have to be rather stupid to write such things using your Gonzaga University e-mail account. Or arrogant. Or both.
A few weeks I was on the GU campus and met with an employee, a devout Catholic who admitted that it was often a great struggle, both emotionally and spiritually, to be a faithful Catholic on the campus. There are professors there—some of them Jesuits— he told me, who are not only embarrassed that the school is ostensibly Catholic, but are dedicated to purging the school of any Catholic identity. It is, like many Catholic/"Catholic" colleges and universities, a real mess—and a real trial for those who are faithful to Church teaching and proud to be Catholic.

Reason #3,987 that my children will never set foot on a Catholic university. Other than a handful, they are vile, harmful organizations.

Somehow, some way someone or some people should open a Catholic college in Washington. Pattern this college after Christendom College, which does not take government funds. The sooner this is done, the better off we will all be.

By the grace of God, Fr. Joseph Fessio, who has university administrative experience, is now free to lead a revival in Catholic higher education. He can follow Christendom College and avoid government funding. He can folow the evangelical bible colleges by first getting started and then worrying about accreditation. He may even want to avoid accreditation altogether: it may bring restrictions in conflict with Catholic teaching. He can put a Catholic college in every state. The College of Santa Fe, for instance, will not be reopening this year. It was started as a Catholic college but abandoned the Catholic influence long ago. Many Catholics would be honored to teach in a Catholic college.
