I'm so glad you asked. Here's the answer.
First, this is not a spoof. Secondly, yes, most or all of the members were Catholic; one went on to become a Paulist priest. Third, I'm not saying that all Catholic pop rock from the early '80s was, um, well, uh...corny, strange, embarrassing, etc.. I'm just waiting for evidence to the contrary.
Yes, it's easy to criticize, especially when it comes to pop music from the late '70s and early '80s. But...ah, never mind. We now return to our regular Friday night lineup of meaningful, serious posts.

This is just awful. I have a feeling will be having similar thoughts of Matt Maher(no offense to Matt, but there is no need for 'catholic' rock.) in 10 years.

If it wasn't for Vatican II, that song would have been sung in Latin!
Jesus est amicus mei. Jesus est amicus mei. Jesus est amicus mei.
(I have no idea if that's right. It's from an online translator I used.)

I don't know, the bass and guitar solos were pretty sweet.
Favorite line:
"He'll get you anyway He can...Zap!!!"

That's not Paulist Father Dave Dwyer (Busted Halo Show on TCC on Sirius) doing the lead singing is it?

Is it too mean to suggest that this song gave the lead singer numerous opportunities to "turn the other cheek"?
I hope I didn't just add to my Purgatory time by pointing that out. I couldn't resist the temptation.

I wish you hadn't posted this. I wish I hadn't seen it. I wish that song would simply get out of my head... :)
