Ignatius Press author named bishop
Monsignor Peter J. Elliott, the author/editor of works such as Liturgical Question Box, Ceremonies of the Liturgical Year, and Ceremonies of the Modern Roman Rite, has been named an Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Melbourne, Australia. Fr. Jay Toborowsky of the "Young Fogeys" blog has the news and details.

We are very proud of Msgr Elliott here in Melbourne.
His books have been invaluable aids to me as a member of my parish liturgy committee and also it would appear, from my trawling the blogs on the Internet, to many priests who wish to conduct reverent liturgies.

Congratulations to Monsignor Elliott! I enjoyed reading his liturgy books very much. I wish we could clone him for the USA. (Well, not really because it would not be moral.) A new springtime down under, perhaps?

Pazdziernik, alas one swallow doth not a summer make.
The liberals still have the numbers on the Bishops' Commission.

Msgr. -- Bishop -- Elliott's Liturgical Question Box is terrific. In addition to containing one of the best explanations of ad orientem I've seen, he covers a wide range of questions concerning everything from the location of Baptismal fonts to the care of sacred vessels. In Sacramentum Caritatis, Pope Benedict indicates that a liturgical compendium is forthcoming. Elliott could play a valuable role in drafting it.
