Here's a revealing exercise: do a Google search in the News section for the words "Benedict", "book," and "Jesus of Nazareth." Now examine the headlines:
Benedict's first book as Pope decries neglect of Africa CBC News
Pope Accuses Rich Countries of Plundering and Looting Prensa Latina
Pope's new book accuses rich nations of plundering Africa Independent Catholic News
Pope quotes Marx in his new book on Jesus Mangalorean.com, India
Pope's Book Accuses Rich Nations of Robbery Buzzle, CA
Benedict's book slams "plundering" rich countries CathNews, Australia
Fair enough; those topics are important and need to be considered, discussed, etc. But my guess (having not yet seen the book, which can be pre-ordered here) is that Jesus of Nazareth has some interesting and direct things to say about Jesus. Just going out on a limb, of course, but I think it's a solid guess. When books are published that call into question the veracity of the Gospels or that provide some bizarre conspiracy involving Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and the Tri-Lateral Commission, we hear all about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and the Second Shooter. When Benedict is set to publish his first book written as pontiff, the focus is on anything but Jesus. Like I said: revealing.
Did Jesus eat *even* with the journalists?

The Pope it seems is critical of the Western world which only offers the third world
a godless vision. Most of the sources you cite take this to be a criticism
of the Catholic Church and in particular the missionaries.
I must not know what godless means.
