Meanwhile, Christopher Hitchens...

...pens a puzzling and, at times, hysterical essay, "Why I'm Rooting Against the Religious Right." It seems to me that Hitchens proves many of Taranto's points (see below) and could have benefitted from reading Fr. James Schall's essay, "On Being Neither Liberal nor Conservative."

Wouldn't it be great, if God will knock Mr. Hitchens off of his horse, and will become a great evangelist for the Catholic faith, such as St. Paul.

Maybe we can get Fr. McCloskey to have a little chat with him.

A very puzzling essay indeed.

I spent too much time trying to keep an open mind about CH. But he's getting worse, not better. When a man of his erudition refers to Christ as a "possibly mythical Nazarene", he simply loses what credibility he has left with honest men.

Hitchens is an asshole plain and simple. And I'm being charitable by saying that.
